A Thrilling Night of Hockey and Giving Back: The STAC Fund Face-Off Hockey Tournament 2024 By: James BohrerOn Thursday, May 16, 2024, the Security Traders Association of Chicago (STAC) hosted its annual STAC Fund Face-Off Hockey Tournament, with all proceeds benefitting the STAC Scholarship Fund in honor of Michael J. Guzy III. This fun and fast paced event brings together professionals from the securities industry for some friendly competition, networking, and support for a great cause. The 2024 event was a resounding success, drawing an enthusiastic crowd at Johnny’s Icehouse East where players delivered two thrilling and highly competitive games. The Face-Off Tournament is more than just a sporting event; it's a celebration of community, camaraderie, and charity. We welcomed more than 50 players, ranging from seasoned skaters to newcomers who took to the ice to showcase their skills and support this worthy cause. And we can’t forget all the spectators, colleagues and friends who were on hand to cheer on the teams, creating an electric atmosphere that underscored the spirit of the tournament and showcased what makes this event so special. As always, the Puck Toss and Score-O were a highlight of the night with plenty of pucks being chucked! For those not familiar with the game, participants purchase their desired number of pucks and then toss them onto the ice, aiming for the center circle. The winner then receives half of the proceeds raised for that game. This year’s winner was John Storrs – who graciously donated his winnings back to the STAC Scholarship Fund. The Ranalli’s after party was a boisterous affair as always, providing an excellent opportunity for networking and fostering even stronger connections among attendees. Great food and drink and lots of laughs made the night complete and marked the perfect ending to an event filled with friendly competition and generous giving. None of this would be possible without our sponsors and supporters We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the sponsors, players, spectators, and friends who made this event possible. Your support is invaluable and deeply appreciated. It’s your generous giving that allowed us to raise over $20,000 this year, and we are thrilled at the number of college scholarships that will allow us to provide to deserving local students as they pursue higher education in finance-related fields. For those who couldn’t attend (or want to relive the memories!) we’ve uploaded the photos to our website - check them out here! Don't miss the video too!
