10th Annual STAC Fund Face-Off Hockey Tournament: A Night of Competition, Community and Giving By: James Bohrer
On Thursday, May 22, 2025, the Security Traders Association of Chicago (STAC) once again hit the ice for a great cause, hosting the 10th annual STAC Fund Face-Off Hockey Tournament. Held at Johnny’s Icehouse East, this high-energy event brought together professionals from across the securities industry for an evening of friendly competition, networking and meaningful philanthropy—all in support of the STAC Fund Scholarship program, in honor of Michael J. Guzy III.
This year’s tournament was another standout success. With over 50 players lacing up their skates—ranging from experienced veterans to enthusiastic newcomers—the rink saw two action-packed games that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. The electric atmosphere in the arena, fueled by cheering colleagues and friends, perfectly captured the spirit of STAC: connection, community and giving back. Of course, no Face-Off Tournament would be complete without the ever-popular Puck Toss and Score-O challenge. Participants purchased pucks to toss toward center ice, vying for the top prize. Congratulations to this year’s winner, Stephen Fochtman, who showed true generosity by donating his winnings back to the STAC Scholarship Fund. After the final horn sounded, the crowd made their way to Ranalli’s for the always anticipated after party. With great food, drinks and lively conversation, the evening wrapped up in true STAC fashion—with plenty of laughs and new connections forged.
